Safexs are a company who specialise in manufacturing customised USB and encryption solutions. They’re based in Malmo, Sweden but also operate out of the UK and China.

Designed and developed in the EU, they pride themselves in providing feature-rich solutions that are made from high quality components at an affordable price.

Safexs Protector secure USB drives are built around a Hybrid technology, combining the flexibility of a non-managed solution with built-in management like features, requiring no management console to be downloaded, installed or configured, reducing help desk calls and removing management costs.

Safexs is thoroughly tested and approved for all currently known authority controls such as RoHs and RoHs 2 (Restrictions of Hazardous Substances).

When they sat down and drew up guidelines for how they wanted to act and be perceived by the market, they realised that there were four parameters that would be reflected in their customer relationships when it came to sales, purchasing, environmental awareness and marketing. Four core values they hold high and promise themselves and their partners to permeate their everyday lives.

Safexs 4 Parameters

James Baker, the VP of Sales & Marketing at Safexs says:

“We hear lots of talk about the EU GDPR (EU General Data Protection Regulation) and the huge fines (up to €20m or 4% of company turnover) that businesses will receive if they do not adapt, protect and comply with these new data regulations by May 2018, and in general, these regulations are a good thing, even if a little over the top with some of the requirements.

When I look at data protection as a whole, there is one thing that stands out, it is always businesses that are required to be compliant and no real thought has gone into the consumer market, we protect our work computers with anti-malware software, email filtering and encryption but the majority of consumer’s won’t have the same measures in place at home or on their personal laptop’s, this is where businesses have big headaches, when they require their staff to be able to work remotely.

Education is key here as well as the availability of such products for the consumer market, and the first step should be to protect your laptop and personal computers as well as all devices that connect to them, encrypt your data on your computer with software encryption, so all files such as photos, spreadsheets, account details and passwords are protected against possible attacks or data loss, switch on the encryption on your smartphone and tablets and create a complex password, don’t use the standard 4 digit pin number and especially not your date or year of birth, I managed to unlock 4 smartphones in the office due to staff members choosing their year of birth as a password, and finally if you are using removable media devices for transferring data between computers or with friends and family, make sure it is encrypted too, flash drives especially, as they are an easy way of sharing malware and infecting machines as well as being easily lost due to their small size.”

  1. I have heard management speak. Clearly data management speak has doubled down.
