Back in February, at the Mobile World Congress, Sony unveiled three smartphones in the new Xperia X lineup: Xperia X, Xperia XA and Xperia X Performance. None of these devices are on sale yet, but the company introduced a fourth member to the series – the Xperia XA Ultra.

Described by Sony as a “stylish selfie-cam masterpiece”, the new smartphone seems to be a larger version of the previously announced Xperia XA. Its key features are the huge 6-inch edge-to-edge display and the front-facing 16MP camera, which has a super-wide angle and has been designed to produce bright selfies in all conditions with no sign of blurring. The front camera utilizes optical image stabilization for photos and videos to minimize hand shake, and it offers the “Hand Shutter” feature, which allows you to take a shot just by raising your hand.

It’s quite clear that, with Xperia XA Ultra, Sony is targeting a younger audience. The smartphone is aimed at people that are interested in taking high-quality photos in any situation, and also like seeing their pictures on a bigger screen.

Sony Xperia XA UltraXA Ultra Specifications:

  • 16 MP front camera Exmor RS™ for mobile sensor, front flash, OIS (Optical Image Stabilization), low light photography
  • 21.5MP rear camera Exmor RS™ for mobile sensor, quick launch and capture, hybrid auto-focus

  • MediaTek MT6755 octa-core 64-bit processor
  • 3GB RAM
  • 16GB storage

  • 2700 mAh battery

The XA Ultra will be available in graphite black, white and lime gold. There is no information on pricing, but the phone is expected to be released in July.
